Sturminster Marshall Parish Plan

WHAT IS A PARISH PLAN?

In the words of the November 2000 Government White Paper Our Countryside – The Future, a Parish Plan is designed to “identify key facilities and services, set out problems that need to be tackled and demonstrate how distinctive character and features can be preserved.” A Parish Plan should help a community to find out what its people want and how best to deliver those wishes.

OUR PARISH PLAN

Our 2004 Parish Plan was the result of consulting as widely as possible to find out what you, the people of Sturminster Marshall, valued in your community and what you saw as local issues affecting your lives and the community as a whole. Most of the issues raised have been addressed and, whilst action has been taken on many of them, some remain to be resolved. The 2004 Parish Plan can be viewed here as a pdf.

UPDATING THE PLAN

However, needs and perspectives change over time and that is why we are asking you, again, what is important to you and what needs to be done to help Sturminster Marshall develop to meet the needs of its people. We expect that many of the issues highlighted in the 2004 Parish Plan (e.g. car parking, affordable housing etc.) will still be important today.  If this is so, please tell us. Also, if there are new problems, please let us know about these as well. It is up to the community itself, not local or national government, to decide what is important on a parish scale.

You can download copies of the review form via this link or you can click the button below and complete the form online and it will be submitted automatically by e-mail.

Once we have found out what you think, we will update the Parish Plan, reporting on progress on issues raised since 2004, and highlighting any new issues and the actions that will be needed to resolve them.
